While there are many reputable solar companies out there, the rise in solar has become the modern day gold rush.  When companies rush in to profit off the solar craze, along come unscrupulous companies. It is an unfortunate reality.

There is not one typical scam or deceptive technique, but the most common are:

• misrepresenting tax credits as the consumer “receiving a check from the government”;
• placing someone in a lease when the consumer was told he was purchasing the system;
• locking consumers in a long contract where the consumer is forced to buy the electricity produced by the system; and
• misrepresenting whether a lien will be placed on the consumer’s home,
